Are You a Good Man or Good at Being a Man?
There are two categories of good men today. Do you know which category you belong in? You might be a good man, but are you good at being a man?
There is a significant difference between being a good man and being good at being a man.
What It Means to Be a Good Man
Being a good man is defined by your morals, values, and ideas about right and wrong, largely shaped by your upbringing and role models. It’s about your internal beliefs and how you view the world. These qualities tend to remain relatively constant throughout life.
What It Means to Be Good at Being a Man
Being good at being a man, however, is about how you apply yourself. It’s your actions, driven by your thoughts and values, but going beyond them. To excel in manhood, you must actively seek opportunities for growth and embrace challenges. You’ve got to be ready and willing to put your ideas into action.
The Difference Between Being a Good Man and Being Good at It
Let’s see the difference between the two in action.
The Dark Alley Scenario: A Test of Manhood
Imagine a woman being assaulted in a dark alley, and you are in a position to help. A good man will know that it’s his duty to intervene, of course. However, someone who is good at being a man will intervene, and most importantly, he will have been consistently preparing himself for this possibility.
A good man might call 911. To him, “I called the authorities” might be enough to ease his conscience after hearing the screams of a defenseless woman. He convinces himself he’s done all he can to help.
Someone who is good at being a man will take a different approach. This man will have kept himself in superior physical condition, trained in self-defense, and prepared to step into action if necessary.
The Prepared Man: Actions Speak Louder Than Intentions
A man who is good at being a man will likely be carrying a firearm, and he will have spent significant time becoming adept at shooting. He understands that calling the cops might help, but the damage to the victim will likely occur long before authorities arrive. As a result, this man knows it is his duty to act swiftly, even if that means using superior violence to protect others.
Being Better Means Being Prepared for Tomorrow
Be a good man, sir. But know that the ultimate judge of your goodness is your actions. You can call yourself a good man, but are you willing to do what it takes today to make sure you can affect necessary change tomorrow?
Step Into the Man You’re Meant to Be
Every action you take today defines the man you’ll become tomorrow. It’s not just about being a good man, it’s about having the strength, courage, and readiness to stand up when it matters most. True greatness comes from preparation, and that preparation starts now.
Are you ready to rise above and live a life guided by purpose, integrity, and action?
